is was the first adult learning class I had taken since my career in business management had first begun and, to be honest, I didn't see how it was important. It was a course about applying principles in psychology to managing employees, and I did not believe that it really applied to me. I thought that I already knew it all as far as using psychology with my employees went. It did not seem all that important to review the ideas, and I thought that the adult learning class would be a waste of my time. Conclusion: Useless and potentially dangerous as stated in many places by many experts, including us. Simply avoided. There is a much safer and more effective means. thout healthy levels of B12, RBCs fail to get enough oxygen. End result is that "worn out, run down" feeling that many people express. Overall B12 deficiencies lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, disturbed dreams, incontinence, low brain functioning, dementia, depression and mood disturbances. These can occur with even a slight drop in B12. One of the frustrating aspects about nutrition is that honesty is not always popular. Ask something if they know how to fix a car and they will be honest — I know who or I don’t know. Ask them if they know about electrical work and again, honesty will come forth. Ask them about nutrition. . . and so many will answer yes. They read the book. Or listened to their chiropractor (who took a course once) or saw the study and thus. . . they know. The end result is that fads, trends and simply terrible notions get passed along. At the top of the list is this notion that everyone should be eating 5-6 smaller meals per day. For years, I have said that this is dead wrong and have seen so many patients’ health suffer because of this. You know who should be eating 5-6 smaller meals per day? Diabetics. Do you know what can happen if someone eats 5-6 smaller meals per day over time? Diabetes. If you eat carbs in particularly every 3-4 hours, your pancreas simply cannot keep up with the insulin requirements and the end result . . . . . . . . . . . diabetes. Recently, the British Journal of Nutrition published an article about eating 5-6 meals per day. They were not as harsh but the results were clear. Eating multiple meals is not an effective means of weight control. Here is the summary. "As long as total caloric and nutrient intake stays the same, then metabolism, at the end of the day, should stay the same as well. One study that carefully demonstrated this, published in 2009 in The British Journal of Nutrition, involved groups of overweight men and women who were randomly assigned to very strict low-calorie diets and followed for eight weeks. Each subject consumed the same number of calories per day, but one group took in three meals a day and the other six. Both groups lost significant and equivalent amounts of weight. There was no difference between them in fat loss, appetite control or measurements of hormones that signal hunger and satiety. Other studies have had similar results." Exercise, on the other hand, seems to effectively increase metabolism according to studies. Drop the notion that 5-6 meals are needed. Eat when you are hungry and pick quality sources of primarily proteins, vegetables and some fruits/ Throw in a "free" meal once a week and health will be your companion. rimp is a nutritious, delicious and elegant addition to any seafood lover's plate. Each day we are faced with small decisions, what to wear, what to eat, how to prioritize our time and many other things. Decision making is a learned skill that we are taught from a very young age. As we get older and need to make major life decisions we automatically fall back on how we learned to make decisions. This may not be a conscious part of our decision making, but it is there none the less. We make our decisions based on our values, beliefs and knowledge. Decisions are made with a combination of how we feel and what we think. It is up to us to decide if our feeling or our knowledge has the greatest influence on us. w about the relative health conditions of participants. A 20 year old might have perfect blood pressure and cholesterol readings, while an older person with high blood pressure and cholesterol readings may have managed to reduce these readings to an acceptable level with daily vitamin supplements, dietary changes and herbs. While the older person has higher levels than the younger person who doesn't take vitamins, the older person has benefited from the vitamin supplements. Disadvantages: Overall, not very many but there are some. Formulas in this category do not use adequate dosages of releasers (the opposite problem compared to HGH Precursors). Processing methods can be poor. a result, cooking has become somewhat of a lost art in the American kitchen. Now, we find that, with food costs jumping substantially, it's time to start cooking more meals at home. If you feel the need for some instruction in basic cooking skills, you ought to look into the Cooking for Dummies series to get you up to speed in a hurry. Q: You place a high level of importance on emotions even more than nutrition. I always thought you were off on this but now I am not sure. Please comment.A: Let me address this in 2 ways. Firstly, one of the things that can help you in many, many areas of your life is training yourself to think "and" instead of "either/or." Many of us have trained our minds to think of one or the other. This or that. We even have expressions such as "you can’t have your cake and eat it too." Truth be told, you can have your cake and eat it. You can also have your own bakery. And teach others to bake as well. Infinite number of choices become available when you train yourself to think in this fashion. Emotions AND nutrition are both important and very interconnected. Each cell has receptor sites numbering in the billions. Receptors are like a lock. When emotions are experienced, the body produces chemicals that act like a key. Anger produces one type of chemical. Love produces another etc. When cells reproduce, the specific type of receptors sites also reproduce. Thus, imagine what a sister cell would look like after 10 or 20 years of steady anger or abuse. There would be (literally) few if any receptors for nutrition! That is one of the many reasons why I place such a strong emphasis on emotions.Q: I have been following your newsletters for years. With all of the information you have stated, what is the one thing you would say is the most impactful for the best health?A: Finding what you love and doing it. I believe that diseases, particularly the major ones will be eliminated or dramatically reduced not by pharmaceuticals, surgeries or even herbs. Diseases will be eliminated or reduced by following one’s passion. Health will be present and there will not be room for disease.Q: I know what my passion is but I am afraid I cannot make a go of it.A: When I was in practice in South Florida, approximately 25% of my patients were 75 or older. A number came to me for pain relief from a terminal disease. I had the great fortune of speaking about many issues and WITHOUT exception, the one theme among all was this — "If I had life to do over again, I would have followed my heart and done XYZ." Please don’t wait until something drastic happens to come to this realization.Q: But I am 52. What if it takes me 5 years to find my passion? Or more?A: In 5 years, you will be 57 no matter what. At 57, you can be doing what you are passionate about or wondering what life would be like if you followed your passion.Q: I struggle so much with issues such as weight. Is there an easy way around this?A: This week, I went to an aikido seminar with one of the highest ranking martial artists in the world. One student asked him what he can do to make some of the techniques easier and smoother. Takahashi Sensei replied, "Stop talking and train." Translation — you know what needs to be done. Keep doing it day after day after day. Be patient but be relentless. Act as if your life depends on it. By the way, it does. Go back and re-read the newsletters on weight/fat loss. That information is the most effective method for fat reduction known. Focus on the mental image of how you wish to look. Eat 6 smaller meals per day and follow a steady exercise plan. The "great secret" about being successful at anything is that there is no great secret. It is simply showing up day after day after day until the mission is accomplished.Take the "Apollo 13″ approach to life — failure is not an option. Although I swore to myself that I'd never let it happen again, I've inevitably come back from the beach with a ruthless sunburn. So much for my 45 SPF sunscreen! I guess there are just those of us out there who have no business being out in the sun for more than 30 minutes. But it's just too much fun to play in the ocean, and I don't have any intentions of staying inside for the rest of my life, and especially not while the rest of my family wants to enjoy a day at the beach. That said, I've got to get serious on re-applying the sunscreen religiously every hour or two. But in the meantime, I want to do what I can to keep from peeling. According to conventional wisdom, that means investing in some aloe vera products, the gel in particular, and slathering the stuff all over my poor back. 2 is required for our genetic cellular makeup and has far reaching implication for the health our our red blood cells and nerve cells. RBCs carry oxygen from the lungs to other vital body parts while nerves cells send important signals throughout the entire system. I love a good home cooked pile of pancakes or a large made-from-scratch Belgium waffles, but that is not the reality of my life. There are some mornings on the weekends when this is possible, but even then, it is not something that I manage very often. If you are anything like my husband and me, you want to have a good breakfast for yourselves, and your kids if you have them, but you don’t have a lot of time. Weekdays are always hectic, but that does not mean your kids have to have cereal every day. Think of some fast, fun, and healthy breakfast recipes that you will all love. at happens if you turn down the over-the-counter route in favor of the prescription one? That one's not such a great idea either. Scientists have been at it for more than a hundred years now, and every one of those drugs they came up with is banned today. Amphetamines were banned because they were addictive, FenPhen caused heartfelt irregularities. Accomplia brings in seizures and suicidal tendencies the back door - you get the idea. No one is giving up though; so the best weight loss pill might be the one that is just round the corner. They call it Lorcaserin. The drug is still in clinical trials, and is said to have passed two rounds of them. The final round could be over and done with in a month. ising children and discipline strategies amount to an art. It's a delicate balance. While one of your kids night fight you, tooth and nail, over a cookie, another child might not give any indication of unhappiness until several hours later, when you're caught off guard and have no idea as to what the problem is. rogance is the behavior of choice for insecure people. Such people must demonstrate their superiority in order to maintain a sense of adequacy. Here you are, minding your own business, when a coworker approaches you with a remark on an imagined failure on your part. "You obviously didn't do your part on this project. Why are you so lazy?" An angry response won't get you anywhere. You're just playing into his hands. This challenging behavior requires both firmness and finesse. "I completed my task. I'm sorry you're dissatisfied with my performance, but if you want to take it up with the boss, be my guest." atever the scientific reasoning behind it, I'm a big believer in aloe vera products. I know there's nothing that feels more wonderful than pulling a big bottle of that wildly colored green gel out of the refrigerator and putting it on a raging sunburn. The cooling effect is instantaneous, and I know that applying it frequently seems to not only keep me from peeling, but helps the burn to fade more quickly. And it's nice to know that I'm using something on my skin that's free of chemicals, is all-natural, and has been around for centuries. It's a skin-care choice I feel good about. ere are many different kinds of cleaner purifier on the market, but the two principal models are the ionizing and filtering type. The filtering ones have activated charcoal and HEPA filters that cut out the pollutants when the air is circulated through the filter. Ionizing ones run electric current through air that is passed through the filter, causing air pollutants to clump together and stick to the filter. A lot of people have a strong preference for one or the other, but it really depends what you are doing. For small rooms, an ionizing filter can do wonders. For a larger room, however, I've always found that the increased airflow of a HEPA clean air purifier is the best choice. But to each his own I guess. iv id="_mcePaste" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; "> style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.3em; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 3px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; outline-color: initial; display: block; color: rgb(58, 53, 42); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; vertical-align: top; ">Avoid: 1. What you want to do is to make some extra pancakes and/or waffles on the weekend and freeze them. You want to lay them flat and don’t store them more than a week in the freezer. If the package is airtight, and you use these for your breakfast recipes within a few days, they can taste almost as good as if they are fresh. Warm them up in the toaster as you would the store-bought waffles, and enjoy the real homemade taste. Add some fruit and you have a great breakfast. e of the best ways to reduce your chronic stress?
